I saw some footage of a new Magritte museum openend somewhere in Belgium. Magritte is a genius. Even though I always thought that the meaning of ‘Ceci pas une pipe’ was that it was not une pipe but a drawing of une pipe. I knew that it could be explained otherwise like explained in the footage. I guess we never know what Magritte ment. (I haven’t even googled to find out if Magritte ever said anything about it so don’t sue me if I’m totally wrong). An artist should have all their paintings explained in there will, so somebody will never be a considered a genius after his death while in fact he was just overrated.
That’s not the case with Magritte. This painting is beautifull. It’s day and night.
