Mindhunters in on tv. It’s a very mediocre movie, but we (A. and I) tried to visit the set which was located 10 km of our hometown (Kootwijk).
We wanted to see the set and a very big plus was that Brad Pitt supposed to be in it. Sure I am a fan, but A. used to want to marry him (A. and Brad sittin in a tree..). So she called to the hotel they were staying in with an American accent and asked for a certain Tom Miller (or something). The call had the result she hoped for, because the receptionist replied “Is he with the filmcrew? Because they are on set right now.” So we drove to the place. Kootwijk is not a big place, but it is still too big just to walk around, hoping to find a hollywood set. Did I mention we started at 1.00 AM?
Driving around the ‘heide’ (moor, heath) we saw a big light close by so we parked and tried to sneak up on them. But close wasn’t that close, we walked for an hour but the light didn’t seem to come closer. We were on a epic mission, a quest of mythic proportions, nothing was gonna stop us. Did I mention the place was used by the military to practice?
After another hour the light did appear brighter and bigger by, but was it ‘uberhaupt’ the set or just some light? Suddenly tanks appeared out of nowwhere (not true, because tanks are very loud, mainly in deserted ‘heide’ in the middle of the night), but we managed to duck for cover and remain unseen. Those soldiers were training for a reason.
After another hour we arrived at a fence. A fence with some kind of electricity warning sign saying it was dangerous to climb it. Fuck that right? No. Brad Pitt is not worth it. We started digging under the fence, but stopped at about 5cm in. It was over. We could see the lights and some people yelling stuff. Cool. Not.
So the way back home was just as exciting because we used some bright star (or was it an Ufo (or was it a plane)) to determine the right direction. It didn’t work that well. 7.00 AM.
