If physics was explained to me by Richard Feijnman instead of Mr. De Jong I would dare to say my average would be 2 or 3 points higher than the 6 I always had. Not to blame Mr. De Jong for not getting my attention, because teaching simple physics every day for 40 years is hard. We had our own Feijnman in school but I never seemed to get in him as a teacher. I just didn’t care at the time and calculated certain answers with the help of BINAS. That gets you 5.5 to a 6. I never knew what the formulas ment.
The last month of my VWO career I learned the most about physics, because we had lots of time before final exams. So I read the book for a change and had somebody who could actually explain what was happening.
The great thing about Feijnman is that he never assumes something being the truth just because every person on earth says it is the truth. He must understand it and it has to be scientifically proven by experimenting. So social studies and it’s theses don’t hold any value to him. The great story about him and his dad walking through the park. His dad started naming all the birds he saw in English, Spanish, Latin and three other languages. Pretty impressive. But what do you know about the birds by knowing their names? Absolutuly nothing.
